  • OSHA Certified (2008)

  • B.S. in Architecture, CEPT University, India (1985)

Bina Parikh has practiced architecture for more than 35 years — the first two decades inside New York City government, and the years since running her own practice. She holds architect's licenses in New York and New Jersey and is LEED AP BD+C accredited.

As a staff Architect and Project Manager for the New York City Board of Education and New York City Transit (MTA), she managed capital work across all five boroughs — school building projects, and the renovation and upkeep of the bus depots that keep the city running. That meant working inside public procurement rules and agency review cycles, on buildings that had to stay in service while construction went on around them.

"Most of my work is on buildings that are already standing and already in use. The design problem is usually how to change them without shutting them down."

In private practice she has handled more than 200 projects — additions and gut renovations, new single-family houses, storefront and restaurant fit-outs, and work for religious and community organizations. Most of it involves existing buildings, tight lots, and the reality of getting a project cleanly through the Department of Buildings.

She draws in both AutoCAD and MicroStation, knows NYC zoning and the building code chapter and verse, and stays on a project from the first feasibility sketch through construction administration and the certificate of occupancy. Clients work with her directly — not a project manager standing in for her.

What We Do

Our Services

Most projects here start with an existing building and a constraint — a code issue, a change of use, an accessibility gap, a tight budget, an agency deadline. This is what that work usually looks like, from the first feasibility study through DOB sign-off.

01

Municipal & Government Facilities

Public agencies, transit facilities, and government-funded capital programs. Having worked on the agency side, the firm knows how public procurement and DOB filing actually run — not just in theory.

02

Educational & Institutional Design

Schools, community centers, houses of worship, and nonprofits across New York and New Jersey — new construction, renovation, and adaptive reuse.

03

Commercial Renovations & Fit-Outs

Storefronts, offices, restaurants, and change-of-use projects — the full permit set and DOB coordination, not the drawings alone.

04

Residential Design & Renovation

Additions, gut renovations, and new single- and multi-family houses — schematic design through construction documents and approvals.

05

Accessibility & ADA Upgrades

Bringing existing buildings into ADA and NYC accessibility compliance. The hard part is usually doing it within what the structure will physically allow.

06

Feasibility Studies & Site Analysis

What the zoning permits, what fits the site, and whether the numbers work — settled before you commit to full design, while changes are still cheap.

07

Sustainable & LEED Design

Energy-efficient systems and materials where they earn their place. LEED AP BD+C accredited, on residential and commercial work alike.

08

Building Code & Zoning Compliance

Code and zoning analysis, and variance consultation when a project calls for it — across NYC, New York State, and New Jersey.

09

Permitting & DOB Expediting

Filing, agency coordination, and moving a job through DOB approvals. This is where projects stall — keeping yours moving is the work.
